Area Sub Committees
JDS & E Sub CommitteeThis sub-committee was formed in 1968 to take on the responsibility for training Area Judges, Demonstrators and Speakers; when qualified these members are in great demand.
Demonstrators are the very core of the Flower Club’s monthly meeting and members keenly await newly qualified members. Speakers are always an interesting alternative to a monthly meeting, so again Speakers can find themselves much in demand. Judges
are employed to judge flower arranging classes at many local shows.
Trainees pay a contribution towards the cost of their training, once qualified they benefit from being listed in the Area List of Accredited Judges, Demonstrators, Speakers and Teachers circulated to all clubs. They are also eligible to go on to take a National qualification.
Refresher days are also held for all of the disciplines so that everyone may be kept up to date with current trends in floral design.
Whilst Teachers come under the umbrella of the JDS & E Sub-Committee, they undertake to obtain their own training and qualifications. Many clubs arrange practice classes and here the services of a qualified teacher can be invaluable.
Educational Association Sub CommitteeThe Area has a very active Educational Association, which is financially independent. Membership is open to all paid-up members of a club affiliated to the Area
and on payment of an annual subscription.
The sub-committee organises a wide variety of education days, including residential weekends and visits to places of interest. Workshops cover all aspects of flower arranging and allied crafts, which are always inspirational and very popular.
